What is the NJSST?
It is the National Junior Summer Sports Tournament sponsored by the National FOCA. It is held at St. Vladimir’s Camp. It is a camp that builds the Orthodox faith with some sports tournaments and fun along side.

How are teams made?
On Sunday night after the campers have all arrived there is a few games in which we play to divide the campers up into six teams. As equal aspossible.

What are the divisions and awards?
There are four divisions; female 10-13 & 14-17 and male 10-13 & 14-17. Awards are given for each individual event. Medals for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place and ribbons for 4th & 5th. Four “All Star Awards” are given out, one in each division, as well as, two “Sportsmanship Awards” (voted on by the campers) one female & one male. Each member of the winning team receives the prized “NJSSTCHAMPION” T-shirt.

How does the team win?
The NJSST feels that it is about fellowship and working as a team so that is where the focus is. Points are awarded for each individual event that go toward the team total. There are also team events, the daily spirit award, and fellowship ribbons that can all earn points towards your teams total. So cheering your team on everyday is worth more than winning a 1st place medal.

How many events are there?
There are 15 different individual events to choose from. The camper must choose 12 of the 15 to compete in for their team. There are also 5-7 team events.

What if I’m not very good at sports?
Don’t worry as long as you have a great “spirit” you will win! It is about fellowship and not about the sports. We try and do something for everyone. From relay races and obstacle courses to football and basketball.

How do I know what color team I will be on?
Team colors are the colors of the rainbow so bring a bunch of colors from your closet to support your team.

Our Goal
To provide a safe camp setting for children and adults in an Orthodox Christian community of worship, witness, service, and fellowship centered on Jesus Christ.

Mission
Get away from normal daily routines, to grow spiritually through faith, hope, and love inspired by the Holy Spirit that will carry over into family, parish, and community life.
We accomplish this mission by witnessing within our Orthodox Faith through the main aspects of camp. They are:

Worship:
We corporately ascribe praise, glory, and thanksgiving to God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit during the morning Matins, evening prayer services, devotions, and the Sacrament of Confession. This is culminated by receiving Holy Communion in the Divine Liturgy.

Fellowship:
We strive as brothers and sisters in Christ to bring our faith into sporting, recreational, and social activities. Discussion groups provide opportunities to share what we have learned and experienced in our daily walk with Christ.

Education:
We learn the Word of God and the Teachings of the Church in daily Bible study and religion groups led by priests and staff. In addition, we learn how to share with one another our revealed experiences through the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Service:
Our mission is to spiritually uplift our community, and work towards a greater good. We are tireless in our efforts to feed the hungry and clothe the poor. We help those seeking spiritual healing and enlightenment find the path that will lead them to a higher power. Our faith based outreach serves people of all races, creeds, and religions. We do not discriminate. We merely support our fellow man, and serve as a guiding light.

Membership:

Our membership is growing at a steady pace. With this growth, we have been able to accomplish more, and have a larger impact upon the Orthodox community. We welcome you with open arms. Please inquire today about how you can become a cherished part of our faith based family.
